---------------------------------------------------------------------- FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS SEESí98 Software Engineering Education Symposium 18-20 November, 1998 Poznan, Poland Submission Deadline: June 15, 1998 http://www.cs.put.poznan.pl/~sees98/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Organisers ---------- Committee of Informatics, Polish Academy of Sciences Polish Information Processing Society Institute of Computing Science, Poznan University of Technology INSPIRE - Initiative for Software Process Improvement Aim --- Software engineering is a very important area of Informatics. Despite a real progress made in the area, the every day practice still is far from satisfactory and a lot should be done to improve it. A key issue in improving software engineering practice is education and training and key issue in improving software engineering education is getting industrial input. The symposium aims at encouraging academia and industry to work in a more long-term, strategic way to narrow the gap between what a university graduate learns as a student of software engineering (computer science) and what is expected from that graduate once she/he begins to work as a software engineer. Besides papers written by researchers and lecturers, we expect industry practitioners to write papers on how to improve the profession of software engineering from industrial point of view. Scope ----- Topics of interest include but are not limited to: + Definition and scope of software engineering + Education models + Inter University co-operation + University/Industry co-operation + Internship problems + Post-university education and training + Industry training + European Informatics Skills Structure in software engineering + Curricula in software engineering + Role of professional societies + Directions of software engineering development + Role of formalisms in software engineering + Education standards in software engineering Submission procedure -------------------- Authors are invited to submit original contributions or experience reports in English. Papers should be double-spaced and no longer than 8 pages of A4 format. They should be sent electronically, as a PostScript file, not later than June 15, 1998 to Adam Czajka at aczajka@man.poznan.pl Authors that cannot submit Papers electronically should please send 4 hard-copies to the following address: Adam Czajka Institute of Computing Science Poznan University of Technology Piotrowo 3a 60-965 Poznan Poland Proceedings will be available to the participants before the symposium. Authors of the best papers will be invited to submit extended versions to a special issue of IEE Proceedings - Software Engineering. Venue ----- Scientific Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences ul. Wieniawskiego 17/19, Poznan, Poland. Poznan is one of oldest towns in Poland. Its history goes back to the 10th century. In those times it was the capital of Poland. Now it is a modern town with about 600 000 inhabitants. Located in the middle of the way from Berlin to Warsaw it is an excellent place for doing business, research and for enjoying life. In Poznan there are 9 academic institutions and Poznan University of Technology is one of them. The Scientific Centre of PAS is located in the very centre of the town, near the Opera House. Nice hotel rooms, three conference rooms of different size, and the possibility to use equipment installed in the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Centre makes the Scientific Centre an ideal place for various conferences and scientific meetings.
